New Project - VMware

Posted on Friday, May 8, 2009 in Uncategorized

Just about to start a new project to take up my time and help gain work knowledge and experience. I plan to wipe out my older Dell Inspiron Laptop and install Windows Server and make it a VMware server which will host virtualized servers. This seems to be the path my work seems to be going, condensing the server farm and virtualizing them into one single server, therefore saving money, resources, and energy.

I learned that VMware offers the tools to do this for free. So im going to attempt to make a Server 2008 Domain Controller, Exchange Server, and a few Windows 7 RC workstations virtually. The whole goal of this is to practice using VMware tools, as well as brush up on my administrator skills.

And when its all done… blow it all up, and start over again.

Vacations to New York / New Jersey

Posted on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in Uncategorized
A few weeks ago, I went back to my hometown of New York. It was for my niece’s Sweet Sixteen. It was nice to go back with my whole family to visit the family that I have over there.  My fiancee came along with us and was able to meet many of my uncles and aunties for the first time.  We all had such a fun time spending time with my cousins, meeting up with friends, walking around the city, taking pictures …and …. EATING.
FOOD HIGHLIGHTS:

Shake Shack - Madison Square Park, Madison Ave. and E 23rd St. -  http://www.shakeshack.com/
The line was crazy during lunchtime. Awesome burgers..  simple, which I like. I had the standard Shack Burger and Chrizil had a Veggie Mushroom Burger that is stuffed with veggies and cheese, breaded and fried.
Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridian Hotel - 119 W 56th St. - http://www.parkermeridien.com/

My good friend Jeff took me here, and the place was a bit of a surprise. It is inside a really posh looking hotel, but the Burger Joint itself was rather nondescript about its presence, the only sign that a burger place is even existed is a neon sign of a burger down a dark corridor.. easy to miss. No windows, no signs saying “Burger Joint”.  If the line was long, you’d be wondering why there were so many people just standing there.  The difference in decor from the Burger Joint from the hotel it is located in is night and day.  Posters on the walls, Sharpie messages tagged here and there, Wooden stools, the smell of grease and pitchers of beer around the room.  10 feet from here is a high scale hotel.

We ate ridiculously good food the whole trip, and had good times with friends and family. The perfect combination. =)
I was able to take a bunch of pictures of places here and there, so here are a few.
